Blueberry Powers Home in NY Turf Sprint

NY Turf Sprint Championship
$200.000 6 Furlongs Turf
Three Year Olds and Upward Foaled in NY
Aqueduct October 25, 2025

With a $200.000 purse on the line, six NY bred horses lined up for the NY Turf Sprint Championship. When the dust settled it was Blueberry who crossed the line first in his stakes debut.

Winner: Blueberry Breath of the Wild/Gairwolfe (Neon Wolf) Luz International (J.L. Ortiz) Having set a track record in his last start the four year old continued his run of great form and took his stakes debut in a thrilling stretch run. With a half furlong remaining, Blueberry was still sitting in fourth and never looked like a winner at any point in the stretch after swinging wide to make his run. In a determined final burst he powered home to take the win by a neck. He is two noses away from having a five race win streak and this gives him two straight sub 1:08 six furlong efforts on the Aqueduct grass. Not bad for a $16.000 claim! Eager to see where he goes next and what his future holds. It is worth noting that his full sister, the three year old filly Barewolf, took down the $200.000 Ticonderoga earlier on the card.

Second: Nick Dundee Entice/The Gazelle (Levi Strauss) Maxmillion Farm (E. Jamarillo) Another one who was plucked from the claiming ranks not too long ago. He ran a gritty race and looked like a winner right up until the very last few jumps. Battled his rival American Nightmare the length of the stretch and ended up in a dead heat for the runner up prize.

Third: American Nightmare Drone/Combat Cousins (Combastic) D J C Racing Stables (S. Elliott) The most accomplished runner in the race missed bagging a fourth straight win by a neck running the six furlongs 1:08.06. Stellar effort but just ran into a buzz-saw on the day and had to settle for sharing second place.
