6 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $125.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Broadway Heiress Glorify Stables Roman C
Consistency was key here as this game five-year-old which rarely runs a bad race did her best as always, and today it proved good enough. Stalking the pace, she needed every yard of the six furlongs but managed to get her nose down at the right time for a head win. After placings in her last three black type runs, she deserved this victory.
2nd The Great Escape Team 7 Illusions Corrales G
Got behind and in an awkward spot early but ran on very strongly and only just failed to catch the winner. Outpaced by the early leader she just didn’t get the timing quite right but still ran a very encouraging race in only her fifth start and first black type attempt. She may get even better with a seventh or eighth furlong.
3rd Hannah McKay Riggins Racing Roman E A
I was waiting to write the rags to riches story of this one and she gave her best only to be collared in a photo finish. Breaking fast and making the running, she still looked like she may hang on entering the final furlong but in the end the decent pace found her out. This was a huge effort for a filly that could’ve been claimed for $4.000 in December.
4th Night Cruise Mb Stables Cedillo A
Kept on steadily, but just didn’t have the finish of the first two and ended up a very close fourth. She was an expensive purchase but has been frustrating although one feels she has now covered just about all the workable running styles and the trainer will be ready next time with a viable plan.
