GI – Travers
$1,250.000 Graded Stake 1 1/4 Miles on Dirt for Three Year Olds
Another Travers in the rear view mirror means a few things. One, we know who won the race and two the days are getting shorter and winter fast approaches as our summer meets begin to draw to a close. As for the race itself, the tote board showed how wide open of a race it was as Lord High Admiral went off as the post time favorite at 5/1.
Out of the gate Winter Is Coming from the eleven post took the early lead around the first turn with Shake and Range Of The Sun to his inside. That trio lead all the way to the far turn and until they hit the top of the stretch.
That is when the backfield started to make their move. Splitting horses was fast closing Bronx Bomber who was able to time his run perfectly and would just get up in time for the win. Profound Connection was a fast closing second but timed his run just a bit too late, if he had another few yards he would of been able to get the win. Rounding out the top three was Lord High Admiral, the post time favorite was able to beat out Winter Is Coming by .01 for third and Winter Is Coming was able to beat out Shake by .01 as well for fourth.
Rounding out the field in order was Range Of The Sun one of our early pace setters, Made To Sin, City Ball Drop, Heez On Fire, Prince Absolutely, Positive Thinking, Hidden Slew Laff, Indiana Jones and Banshee Star.
With the win Bronx Bomber solidifies himself near the top of a strong group of three year olds right now. He also moves up into sixth in the BC Classic points list with 26 which should be enough to see him in DMR at the start of November. Profound Connection moves up to 10th in points with 16 and Lord High Admiral is also fifth in points with 26 as well.
Congratulations to the connections of Bronx Bomber who takes home the GI Travers in a running time of 2:00:86.
