Coronation Futurity (P3)
WO Race #4 1 1/8m Dirt Stake
Statebred Purse $250.000 For Two Year Olds Foaled In Canada.
1 Bruddafrmanuddamudda Arindel Saez G
Comes here after a big effort in the Cup and Saucer three weeks ago where he tackled turf for the first time and stuck on really well for a close third. Back to the dirt today shouldn’t be a big problem as he won his maiden on the surface. He gets a great draw to run another big race but in just looking at his works i think there would have to be some grass underfoot to really be a winning chance. An improving sort who could run big and from a stable that knows how to win he will be a popular choice.
2 Off The Border La Canada Racehorses Franco M
Still a maiden he was bought for just $8 at auction and ran a decent third for the new owner in his first race in the colors. This is a big test but he worked a much improved 1.37 and 1 when tried over ground on the gallops and with a great draw he may just be ready to deliver a big run at big odds.
3 Declassification Smokey Stover Boulanger G
The trainer has some very nice young horses in the stable and whilst this one isn’t the best you have to respect him on his strong maiden win and solid work times. He found the new race engine A1 spot by leading all the way last time and there doesn’t look too much pressure to prevent him doing that again here. Difficult to weigh up fully but a good chance.
4 Gendarmerie Mo Mentum Farm Hernandez R M
Clearly not the best horse in the stable as he ran at the free track and then broke his maiden at BTP but you have to respect the juveniles from this trainer and he is drawn to advantage. A punchers chance but it is difficult to find too much to be confident in.
5 Run It Back Fractious Husbands P
Scored on debut and was then tested twice in stakes company before coming back to overnights for an allowance win last time out. This is the first time he tackles a route so he is hard to value over this trip but he was solid over shorter so must be given a shout. the trainer will certainly be hoping to recoup some more of the $200 they paid back in May and just maybe this step up in trip is what he has been waiting for.
6 Languish Mb Stables Moran D
Another maiden but this one has done everything but win one. The trainer found a second improvement in his mile works recently so there is something they have found or introduced so i expect a good effort here and certainly better than your average maiden.
7 Cherokee Charley Hawaiian Shirt Guy Ryan S
He was looking pretty promising over sprint trips and his second in the Simcoe was very nice but his first try over a longer trip didn’t go so well last time so there are some questions to be answered. He may need to go back to be most effective which is another thing that makes it tough but he has ability and this is an open race.
8 Letters By The Bay Wood Duck Stables Fukumoto D
The new trainer paid a big price for this son of Chai Bay and would’ve been sweating when he just lasted home to win his maiden last time. A sprint and a turf route, both in the wet, it is tough to know where his future lay if he has one and there will be a few questions answered today. The draw is tough but this isn’t a field full of quality so he may be able to overcome it.
9 Brave Freedom Nakamura Stables Court J K
Stuck out in the car park this recent maiden winner will have to step up again to win this. The trainer has been sending a high percentage of his runners to the front recently (as we all have been trying to do) and the wide gate may help him achieve that here. If he gets away with the sectionals he may be hard to get by.
SUMMARY
I am going for Brave Freedom here on the basis that he gets on speed without too much wasted energy. As value bets i rather like the two maiden in Languish and Off The Border as this race isn’t much better than a high end maiden and there really isn’t much between the rest.
