4 WO Cup And Saucer Stakes
$250.000 2yo Foaled In CA 1 1/16m Turf 120 lbs
We go north of the border up to Toronto for the Cup And Saucer Stakes for the 2yo’s, and it’s a mile and a sixteenth turf battle for a nice payday here at WO. My choice starts and ends with Twenty Twenty… the Threshold trained gelding looked good winning the KD Juv in early Sept., and I just can’t see anything giving him a tussle today. We have a handful of maidens and no other stakes winners, so I’m putting my eggs in one basket and will play a slew of others on the bottom of the wagers, but to me, he’s it.
Here’s The Field –
Only one start and he ended up fifth in a state bred MSW, here at WO on the main track. Now this barn doesn’t usually run maidens in this kind of race unless he thinks something of the horse, so I’d give him a punchers chance just’cause. He did work quickly at a mile on the BEL turf, so….
Broke maiden at HST facing state bred MSW company, then came back to be seventh in a stakes out there. Seems like an all or nothing type as he was up-the-track in his other three starts. Who shows up today?
Ding ding ding… I think we have our go-to horse for this one. Broke maiden at first asking then took home a very nice purse winning on the hill at KD, taking the KD Juv in his most recent. Seems to like the grass and the distance… good enough for me.
Still a maiden but he’s been close in both of his races, and were here, on the grass and it was soggy for both starts. Third in the first trip to the post and just missed a nose last out, so he seems like a runner and should be used in those EX and TRI tickets.
Broke maiden at HST last out, and that was his third trip to the starting gate. He hasn’t been on the turf yet, but shows a series of works over the lawn, so they look like they were pointing for this. He’s another that has to be used on your tickets.
Still a maiden but his best race was here at WO, missing by a nose in a state bred MSW on the main track. All of his races have been on the main track, so it’s a switch over to the turf and no am gallops to get a gauge. He’s a wildcard.
Another that broke maiden at HST and he really hasn’t run a bad race, just missing at DMR last out vs OptAlw horses. It’s his first trip to the turf course, but he’s looked sharp working over it, so give him a look.
Another maiden but his just missed over this course last out, going a mile on the grass. Only his third start, so he could improve, it’s a sharp barn, so he may be worth a look for a minor portion.
Sold five times and has been to the gate four times… that’s a story in itself. Broke maiden at FE on the turf, and was third at ELP on the grass prior to that win. He’s been close in all starts, and seems to like the weeds, so he’s another that should be given a look for a minor placing.
