14 GP The Pegasus World Cup (GI)
$3,000.000 11/8th Mile Dirt 4yo&Up 124lbs
A stellar group of older gents will be headed post-ward on Saturday evening, as well look at one of the biggest races outside of the BC events… The Pegasus World Cup (GI), a mile and an eighth main track even that has attracted the best handicap horses in all the land. We really don’t have any other land, so it’s just another big purse event, in my eye.
As for the happenings today, I think all conversations and to stop and end with Spankersville. He won this race last year, was six for eight with a third, won the BC Classic and pocketed over $7,000.000 in earnings. I know there can be a “post BC bounce” but his works say he’s ready to go get another big payday.
You always have to fear the Big Barn in this massive purse races, and Mb Stables has a nice three-headed monster to look at today. Of that group, I think Lunar Victory is ready to make some noise. He won the BC Dirt Mile (GI) for the old owner, and as he will, Mb lands another big horse. This could be a horse that wins a LOT of money this season. Walk Em Down is another from that trio that deserves a big look.
Let’s give the third spot to Berlin. He’s a 7yo now, but with only twenty-six starts, it’s not like he was abused, and seems to be getting better with age. He’s always close, won three big races last year and is another that could end up have a very, very big year.
You could make a case for a few others, but let’s take what we picked and see if we can win a few dollars at the windows… oh yeah, betting is for contest members only. What a bummer.
