Let me start this preview by saying I’m sorry for it being a bit tardy – I’ve had a temp of 104/105 on back-to-back days, so it’s been a struggle, to say the least. I could have chucked-up something with less than full efforts, but Bill Parcells is already telling me that I’m worthless, so we couldn’t do that.
Since I have some minor interest in this one, I’m going to use The Green Card picks for the preview of the BC F&M Turf (GI), a mile and three-eighths battle that will go down in history, no matter how it plays out.
They are giving Lady Hilltopper the edge today with those back-to-back HUGE wins in the Beverly D (GII) and Ladies Marathon (GIII). I have to say, when she’s right, she’s about as good as any horse you will come across, and she certainly seems to be on her toes for this one.
They are putting Afar in the second spot off of that big closing run in the Rodeo Drive (GII), which a bunch of these were in. I think she will bring some odds with her, so she is a horse of interest if you are headed to the windows.
Ponzi Scheme is the third choice on the Green Card… she has won four of seven starts this year and even when she’s off the board, she’s right in the thick of things. A very game mare that never lets up off of the gas.
They went four deep as it’s within .10 between 3rd/4th and it’s The Queen of Turf, The Lady of the Lawn, the… ok, you get the idea, but you just cannot heap enough praise on La Terrifiant. She is on a pedestal all by herself, no doubt. In the day-and-time of make em, kill em, make some more… this 9yo mare is in a class all by herself. Can she? I think a LOT of people are hoping so.
Congratulations and Best of Luck to everyone involved.
