6 SAR Caress (GIII)
$200.000 4yo&Up F&M 5 1/2f Turf 23lbs
I didn’t get much right in Saturday’s Caress (GIII) at SAR, including the venue… but in the end, Angelos Stable’s Cassandra G flexed her speedster muscles to get her twelfth lifetime win, taking this one by a length in a final time of 1:021 for the five and a half furlongs on the SAR firm turf. Trippi Sprinkle, the 2/1 second choice tried to make a run of it down the lane, but could not get to the winner, settling for the place. 58/1 long shot, Art Of Laughter, closed a late gap to grab third, a neck better than Gummy, who set the pace to the lane but was a bit weary in the late stages.
Cassandra G is a 5yo bay mare by Roebuck – Hurt Me Baby, by Cool Guy Twist, and she was bred in Cal by Gustafson Stable. Acquired by Angelos Stable back in Aug of 2020 via a $10.500 claim, she now shows twelve wins from twenty-eight starts, two wins this season, and she now has earnings of $707.070. Congrats to the Connections!

Cassandra G tracked the pace from the hedge, cut the corner moving up to the leader at the furlong marker, drew away in the final 150-yards. Trippi Sprinkle taken back off of the pace early, continued to save ground edging up thru the turn 2p, shifted back to rail lacking room, game to the finish. Art Of Laughter trailed into the lane, split horses at the sixteen pole, best foot too late. Gummy sent from the gate to control the pace to the furlong marker, out-kicked late. Data Overload rated off of the pace, wide trip. School Of Thought tracked the pace 2p into the lane, drifted out, tired. Creep In the Pink raced mid-pack into the lane, drifted out, tired.
