The Risen Star Stakes is the first 50-point KYD prep race on the schedule, but that didn’t stop Mother Nature from wanting to have her say on things. A steady rain all day at FG made the track muddy/soft. There were twelve horses scheduled to go in the Risen Star, but three of them would scratch out.

As the KYD gets closer, the prep races start to carry a little more weight, and this weekend we will have our first 50-point Derby prep. It’s the Risen Star Stakes from FG, a Grade 2 that has seen some great horses end up in its winner circle, including Fusion, Moment Of Madness, Beach Dandy, and Howl Of The Hound.

The Inside Information looked like a race that was pretty evenly matched, and that’s exactly how it would play out on Saturday. In a tight finish, Devils Bride would prevail at the wire, earning her second win since running in the BC last November.
