Shortly before midnight, HRP time, we had some definite late night racing at FP with the running of the St. Louis Derby. It was a pretty solid field, so it may have been worth staying up for, if you’re in this time zone.

The Smart N Fancy Stakes had all the makings of a good race, with it’s wide open field. It was a very difficult race to predict, and in the end in a race like this, it’s always good to look for a horse that might come at a price. Your Worst Nightmare went off at odds of 11/1, despite not really having issues coming into the race.

A field of seven fillies will get together for the eighth running of the Bolton Landing, which is a great opportunity for those two year olds who show an early liking for the turf in their careers.

Saturday is Alabama Day at SAR, and there will be several exciting races on the undercard for us to enjoy as well. One of those is The Smart N Fancy, which may not have a graded designation, but still offers a $150.000 purse (the highest ever offered by this race) that promises to attract a good field.
