Such a purchase can be high risk, high reward when talking about two year old fillies in July, but for the moment it certainly looks like Fractious got himself a great one.

This Friday at Saratoga, we will have the twelfth running of the Coronation Cup, which is a turf sprint for three year old fillies. It has always been a smaller ungraded stake here at the Spa, beginning with a $100.000 purse in 2012 before getting slight increases in 2021 and 2022 to its current level of $150.000.

Wilton Draws a Field of Ten

The Wilton is a small ungraded stakes by SAR standards that takes place on the main track for three year old fillies. It is just the second year that the race has been in existence here at the Spa, with last year’s running also having a $135.000 purse.

With the stake season just getting underway for two year olds, there are plenty of opportunities for younger horses to make a name for themselves here at the Spa.
