The Travers – Grade I
1 1/4 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $1,250.000 Open 3 Year Olds.

There wasnt much covering the placegetters in this race but the winner never looked in much danger after he took up the running. Mb Stables hasnt been in the best form recently but he will be more than happy with his war horse who got his first black type win of the season today.

Not many three year olds can come back from a tough TC campaign to win the Travers but this super colt, the runner up in the KYD, did it today in commanding style. Taking the stalk as speed seemed to be the key on the track today he made the lead well before the mile stage and was just too strong down the stretch. He will head for a rematch with Pretty Ferro now and who knows which way that will go.
2nd =  Splash Mountain             John Henry  Albarado R J

Ran his race today from a much better draw keeping on strongly to share second. He thoroughly deserved this after some gutsy performances from horrible draws in his last three starts.

2nd =   Rumble                          D J C Racing Stables  Ortiz I Jr

Came from a  little further back on a track that didnt suit closers he ran to the line very well to share second in a  career best performance.

4th   The Spaniard            Big Jd Racing  McCarthy T

Stalked the lead and kept on pretty well for fourth just a length off the winner. This run will have pleased connections after his second in the Haskell last time was seen by some as a flash in the pan.
