Chai Beast Faces Eleven in Cincinnati Trophy Stakes

Cincinnati Trophy Stakes

$150.000 – TP – 1 Mile – Dirt

For Fillies Three Years Old

March 4, 2023

Fifty KY Oaks points are on the line, with twenty going to the winner of the Cincinnati Trophy Stakes and eleven fillies are ready to duel for their share. Only two already have points – Chai Beast and Touch of Love with 4 each.

Here’s the field:

1 Hard Pinnacle Party (Nakamura Stables)

Won the $85.000 Anoakia Stakes in October. Made a good showing of herself in the Mazarine BC Stakes (Grade 3) but finished fourth. Finished last in the Silverbulletday Stakes in her last start when the track came up muddy. Toss that one out and she could have a shot in here, especially since the track will probably be fast and dry.

2 Dusty Condo (Two Hearts One Love)

Just a maiden claiming win for this one. High hopes but I don’t think she can back it up.

3 Lysistrata (Riggins Racing)

Broke her maiden by five at HOU in TX-bred company last out. That was enough to bring her a $240.000 price tag which new connections, Riggins Racing, paid. Looks promising but probably needs a bit more experience to compete in this company.

4 Way Out West (Greyfriars Stable)

One of the least experienced fillies in the field with just two starts and a maiden win under her belt. Wired the field in that victory, so look for her to be near the pace. Not sure she can stay there to the wire though.

6 Chai Beast (Serenity Stables)

Fourth in the $150.000 Silverbulletday Stakes last start after breaking her maiden at GP. Working well and could come away with a piece of the purse.

7 Alice Springs (London Racing)

Coming off a maiden win at GG. Picked a good spot to test the stakes waters but may lack the experience to get to the winner’s circle.

8 Touch Of Love (Mb Stables)

Allowance winner. Tried graded level in the Santa Ynez (Grade 2) but couldn’t hit the board. Then changed hands and tried stakes level for her new connections. Again, couldn’t hit the board. Should like this spot and could get a piece of the purse.

9 Smokin Cara (Alydar Stables)

Won the $35.000 ATBA Sales Stakes Fillies by three last out in her fourth attempt in stakes and graded stakes company. Distance could be a challenge.

10 Laughing Witch (Hunterman Stable)

Allowance winner trying to make the step up to stakes level. Finished eighth last out in the $150.000 Suncoast Stakes last out, but only by two lengths. Needs a big effort and some racing luck.

11 Fancy Angie (Night Rider Stables)

Just two starts for this one, the last a win in maiden claiming company at 1 1/16 mile, so distance shouldn’t be a problem. Experience is a concern though.

12 Forlorn Hope (TwinTowersRacing)

Hasn’t hit the board since a maiden win in June at CD. Just don’t think she’s got what it takes to compete at this level.

Picks: 6-8-1
