Champagne Supernova May Spoil the Party in Triple Bend Stakes

Triple Bend Stakes – Grade I
SA   Race #7   7f   Dirt   Graded Stake
Purse $400.000  For Four Year Olds And Upward.

1 Oh My Senor, trained by Ekli Stable
A nice enough sort but he has yet to show he can cope with this grade. He ran pretty well to be beaten only a length into eighth in the Palos Verdes Stakes and has worked pretty well so would have a punchers chance.

2 Give Your All, trained by Mb Stables
This is a serious sprinter winning the Kings Bishop, the Malibu and the Vosburgh last year. His seasonal debut saw him a half length second in the General George Stakes and whilst he doesnt often taste defeat that was a decent start to the new season. A good draw will see him once again right at the sharp end of this race.

3 Sqawilther, trained by John Henry
In front of On My Senor when winning The Palos Verdes on seasonal debut he is a decent sort who may find one or two a bit hot here. He has got some grade one form in the Met Handicap and the Vanderbilt Handicap so it wouldnt be a surprise to see him run well.

4 Power And Money, trained by Kopites
Another with good form but seemingly lacking the X Factor to be consistent in this grade. He ran well to be third in the CA Cup Sprint on seasonal debut and proved in The Forego last year that he isnt far from the best so would have a chance of some of this purse even if its not the winning one.

5 Giada, trained by Kopites
A good winner on seasonal debut in an overnight he was a close second in The Vanderbilt Handicap last year so although not the most consistent he has an outside chance of getting into the action.

6 Viking Fuse, trained by Delta Farms
A consistent type in lesser grade he has a bit to prove in this grade. Whilst his track form in only good his work times give him a competitive chance so if you rely on those as a guide he would have a similar chance to some of the best in this field.

7 Champagne Supernova, trained by Eastern Equine
Became a TC hope after a good second in the LA Derby last year but failed in the big races and didnt really find her feet again until returned to sprinting at the end of the year. That return came in the Grade One Malibu where she ran a quarter length second and was gaining with every stride. She was stretched out again on seasonal debut and ran pretty well to be sixth but it is her return to sprinting that piques my interest here.

8 Clatther, trained by Ekli Stable
Close enough in the Palos Verdes with a few of these to give him some sort of chance in this race. He had to overcome a wode draw that day so did pretty well and with a win in the Toboggan previous to that he looks to be in the right form for a decent run.

9 Moon Landing, trained by Mb Stables
Only beaten a length in the BC Sprint last year he has won the Forego before that so clearly has the class to win a grade one. He went for an easy win on seasonal debut like a good few from the stable taking an allowance at SUN and that start will have sharpened him up nicely for an attack on this good prize.

10 Hit The Switch, trained by Mb Stables
The third stable runner he draws the outside gate and looks to have the worst chance of the three so will probably be sent out as a pace maker for the other runners.

SUMMARY
A tight sprint but we could well see an Mb one two here with Moon Landing and Give Your All. There are a few that could make them two go though and i think that Champagne Supernova may be the one to come out of the pack and challenge them.
