The Sugar Swirl 6f Dirt Stakes Purse $125.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.
-Gulfstream Park Hallandale Beach, Florida
Chase The Money from Avenue Z is a five-year-old mare who looks to have found the perfect spot. “Money” is a six for twenty-seven pro who will come out, save all the ground and pounce when her pilot gives her the green light. Plenty of speed signed up in this small field should complement “Money’s” late kick. Good work tab and plenty of time since her last start, an admittedly slightly subpar effort, should have her ready to fire here. Lil Sunshine from Threshold is a bona fide sprinter who took a break from stakes company in her last two and while doing nothing overwhelming, she remains sharp enough to show her claws here. “Sunshine” will not allow anybody else to steal this one. Party Bella from Spb Racing draws the outside post here in this five pack and should gun to the lead. She has gas and is a really good gate horse. If she is able to take control and cross down to the rail, she might forget to stop.
Of the Rest:
Three-year-old Blue Velvet from First Flight Stable moves back to dirt after five straight turf appearances. “Velvet” has plenty of gas and is also a good gate horse. If she guns hard, she probably hurts the chances of the mare to her outside but also helps the chances of the mare on the rail.
Stoke from Luz International seems to handle all surfaces and multiple distances. She also can adapt to any pace scenario, something that could pay dividends here. Stoke’s effort as a three-year-old in last year’s running of The Prioress stakes was a good enough effort to show that she probably fits here. Top to bottom, a tough race today.
