As the gates sprung open on the nice day at Monmouth Park 4 horses jumped right out and lined up on the lead before Intimate Knowledge put her nose in front after just over 1 furlong into the race. The 3 way battle for second was between Secret Sector, Chili King and Duchess, with Shadow Of A Doubt Just off that trio and Spiritual Luck trailing the field. With just under 5.5 furlongs to go in the race Secret Sector decided she wanted the lead and passed Intimate Knowledge.   Chili King did not want Secret Sector to pull away so she also started to make a move. 4 furlongs from home Chili King pulled even with Secret Sector ad Intimate Knowledge started to move backwards but was still in third. Duchess appeared to be in the dream spot in 4^th just under 2 lengths off the dueling leaders. 2 furlongs from home Chili King had put away Secret Sector and was kicking on for home, with Duchess sitting in 3^rd hoping to hit her stride. Another danger horse was appearing in Shadow Of A Doubt who appeared to be closing hard. With just 1 furlong to go Chili King looked as if she was going to hold off all of the closers and it looked like it was going to be a battle for the minor awards. Secret Sector was still holding on to 2^nd but Duchess looked as if she was going to pass her, and the question was would the hard charging closer Shadow Of A Doubt be able to get up in time. In the end the wire got there in time for Chili King but the hard closing Shadow Of A Doubt got up in time to finish second, while Duchess finished 3^rd. This was a very impressive race for the winner Chili King and she is going to be onto bigger and better things. This race shows that even a blind squirrel finds a nut ever now and again as my pre-race prediction came true. Lets look at how the race shaped up and the pay outs.
