Buena Vista Stakes – Grade II
SA Race #6 1m Turf Graded Stake
Purse $200.00 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.
1 My Lady, trained by Sheffler Stables
She was very close to the best three year olds last year and despite some great efforts could only manage a single win. Probably her best effort was when a very close sixth in the BEL Oaks but she was also placed at graded level three times. As if she noticed her poor win ratio she dug deep on her seasonal reappearance to dead heat for the win in the garde three Megahertz and with some strong works since she looks a lively chance.
2 Sticker Shock, trained by Night Rider Stables
A real consistent filly she has been first or second in all of her nine starts. Second in the ONT Colleen she rounded the year off with a win in the HOP Stakes and she is certain to be doing her best work again today and there is no reason her impressive record cant be maintained.
3 Taking liberties, trained by Blushing Meadows
Given a go on dirt for her seasonal reappearance she didnt run up to her good turf form which saw her take the OK Classics Filly and Mare Turf. Back to her favoured surface today her work on the 19th January suggests she is ready to get back to winning ways.
4 Tennessee Queen, trained by Kopites
The class act in the race on paper her work times are suggesting she may need this run to sharpen her up. At her best like when she won The grade two Goldikova she would be close to winning but i will need to see her after this run to have confidence she has retained her form into her sixth year.
5 Christine, trained by John Henry
Another classy six year old this one in contrast to Tennessee Queen is working better than ever. A duel grade one winner last year she looks the best today and can only be beaten by a difficult draw.
6 Heartland, trained by TwinTowersRacing
Maybe just the best of the four year olds but does have a wode draw to contend with. She was impressive in winning the Marshuas River on seasonal debut and with a garde one win in the DMR oaks to her name too looks to be ready to run her best.
SUMMARY
Christine looks to be the one here. Heartland should run a big race and Taking Liberties may be the one to shake up the Trifectas.
