The Rampart – Grade III
GP Race #7 1m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $100.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.
1 City Bus, trained by Tiratzo
She was enjoying a stellar season but has lost her way in her lasttwo starts and you have to wonder whether she is due a break. Second in the Eight Belles and the grade one Mother Goose and Test she was a warm favourite for the CT Oaks but made no real show in that race to finish ninth. Given a chance to atone in the BC Fillies and Mares Sprint she again ran a lack lustre race to finish eleventh. Although those efforts were a bit dissapointing she wasnt too far from the winners and if she can return to er best would play a major role today.
2 Fidele Fille, trained by Gdp Inc
Aimed at the KY Oaks early on in the season she failed in that race and was moved back to sprinting where she found plenty of success. The winner of the grade three Seaway she ran well enough in the Raven Run last time to put her in this with a lively chance.
3 You Little Beauty, trained by Maxmillion Farm
Ran well for a long way before fading out of the CT Oaks she then won a high level allowance and finished fourth last time out in similar company. Bought from Australia Wide for $60 she is not without a chance but hasnt done enough on exposed form.
4 Gottahotone, trained by Ollies
Won three ungraded black types in a row before failing to cope with a penalty in the Dream Supremem last time out. She has proved she is on the cusp of winning a race like this and today will be her chance to take the next step.
5 Best Dressed, trained by Sc Lanciano
Has been running well in a lower grade and she was pretty impressive in winning an open Allowance at RP last time. Clearly a filly with ability and on the upgrade she wouldnt have to improve much to take a hand in this.
6 Chili Time, trained by Rockitpad
Very good in overnights but failed in her last attempt at graded company. A speedy on pace type she is sure to make the running from the wide draw and may be hard pressed to hold off the late challengers.
SUMMARY
An interesting mix of sprinters against milers this is an open race with little seperating the runners. The pace will be hot so i would be looking for a horse to see the mile out so i could go outside the box with Best Dressed or rely on a return to form from City Bus.
