Class See’s Volare Home in RGD

RGD – Grade III
1 3/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Volare, trained by Axeman
I rather thought that with the conditions in her favor that this admirable six year old
would make it to the winners enclosure today. Taken off the pace she trailed the field early
and we all had to wait on her trademark late run. She didnt let us down as she made ground
effortlessly through the field pouncing and striding away by an impressive length. Topping
the $1,500.000 in prize money she looks like she will continue all the way to BC day when her
stamina will really come into play.

2nd Lady Nightshade, trained by Blushing Meadows
You would have to say a career best run by this three year old but its pretty impossible
to judge how she ranks amongst the other three year olds. Running on well from midpack she
couldnt hold the class of Volare even with the weight allowance but claimed some good scalps.

3rd Wild Weather, trained by Chili King Stables
Only once have i seen her go to the lead and that was in her surprise Sheepshead Bay win. It
was probably the wide gate that pushed her into the lead that day but being drawn one today she
got a very different start and had to come late for third. She
was beaten a long way in the end so its hard to weigh up the performance but as a five year old
there may not be much improvement left in her.

4th Whiskey Wings, trained by Team 7 Illusions
The outside gate pushed her into the lead and that tactic only seems to work at BEL. In this race
she performed like most wide gates do in making the running and weakening late on.
