7 SA Beholder Mile (GI)
300.000 4yo&Up F&M 1m Dirt 123lbs
Out to SoCal and we catch a very fine field of eleven set to go a flat mile on the main oval in the Beholder (GI)… this shapes up to be one heck of a race with speed, class and desire… a race where just about every single entrant has a big chance to get the golden ring. I’m probably going to be a bit chalky in my selections, but this is a tough race… I’ll take Up She Flew as the top pick, fresh off of a second place finish in the Bayakoa (GIII) at OP, last out. That was a wet track, and I think we will see a fast track today, so if she can run back to that La Brea race, she should be hard to get past. Let’s go right next door and put Devils Bride in the middle of things… she looked good taking the Inside Information (GII) at GP in her ’24 debut, and this is a filly that can get in front and just keep on going. Karloffs Monster has been one of my favs since she was out on the TC Trail making noise against the boys… she’s five now, but is still a tough nut and is usually in the thick of things… can she find some old magic today? Let’s hope so!
