5 CD Locust Grove (GIII)
$400.000 3yo&Up F&M 1 1/16m Dirt
We stay down in Louisville for the Locust Grove (GIII), a main track affair for the ladies that will take us a mile and a sixteenth around the famed CD oval. Nothing really jumps out at me in this one, other than a couple of horses that I thought would be here are in fact not here. I’ve loved Karloffs Monster since she was a 2yo, but she’s one of those horses that I pick and she runs bad, and if I don’t, she runs off and hides… I’ll do the barn a favor and stay off of her back today. Ask Forfree Delivery has run will in a few graded affairs and could be a horse to get past in this one. She took the Doubledogdare at KEE (GIII) and just missed in the Phipps (GI) after that. She was also close in the Shuvee (GII) so she has the resume’, for sure. Cackle Street is another that shows some nice finishes with graded types, including a win over this strip in the Fleur De Lis Hcp (GII), and it was wet that afternoon. She runs well in just about any condition so watch her. Laffy Crack is another classy sort, and is always a threat. It’s a great bunch, so get to your seats and make sure you don’t miss it!
