LCD Lassie ($100.000 Purse)
FG- For Fillies Two Years Old Foaled In LA
Six Furlongs on the Dirt
December 14, 2024
Confident Elegance has gotten her career off to a great start, finishing second on debut and then following that up with three straights wins, which did include a LA-bred stake back in August. She would bring that streak to FG for the running of the LCD Lassie, and she seems like the one to beat. She was our pick, as well as a pretty strong post-time favorite. And there would be no surprises on this day, as the filly cruised to a three length win to make it 4-for-5 in her career. Confident Elegance is trained by Wood Duck Stables and was ridden by M Pedroza Jr. For each, it is their first win in the LCD Lassie. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:09.52, the second quickest in the history of the race. Let’s take a look at it:
(1/4 Mile- :22.39)- It looked like Skedaddle was going to be the early leader, but Asgar’s Amazing Flair had other ideas, pushing forward to lead after a quarter mile, leaving the Spb Racing filly to be in the second spot. It’s a length and a half to two stalkers, and in the second lane here is the eventual winner from Wood Duck Stables, Confident Elegance. Feels Expensive is right beside her for Oak Tree Stable, and at the back of the field is Asgar’s Million In Mind.
(½ Mile- :45.76, Top of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- Amazing Flair leads around the turn and into the stretch with Skedaddle being within half a length on the rain. Moving forward is Confident Elegance, who has left Feels Expensive behind and sets herself up nicely for the stretch run. She is in the third lane, and only a length from the lead. Feels Expensive is fourth and trying to hang in there, while Million In Mind is about four lengths from the lead.
(Finish- 1:09.52)- Confident Elegance takes the lead early in the stretch, and never looks back, pulling away from the rest of the field and looking very impressive with this three-length victory. Million In Mind got by the rest of them but never was a threat to Confident Elegance. Her stablemate, Amazing Flair is third, followed by Feels Expensive and Skedaddle.
About The Winner- Confident Elegance, trained by Wood Duck Stables and ridden to victory by M Pedroza Jr, is a two-year-old filly by Declassified and is out of Audrey. She was bred in Louisiana by Wood Duck Stables as a first quarter two-year-old, and they have been together throughout! Congratulations to the connections! The win is her fourth in five starts and her second stake win. Her career earnings are now $174.200.
