7 TP Ruby Stakes (GIII) [KYD]
$700.000 3yo 11/8th Mile Dirt 122lbs
To the dust bowl we go, and although we don’t get the glorious taste of fibers due to no syn in our HRP lives, it is forever etched in my brain, so I will at least mention it. The gate should be full as we have a fourteen entered and a couple on the also eligible list for Saturday afternoon’s Ruby Stakes (GIII), a mile and an eighth test for the TC hopefuls, and it’s a very nice group of horseflesh… just as we would expect.
While I think Kara France may be the post time favorite, and I do like that colt, I’m using the home cookin’ method of handicapping and will give Declaration the top billing for this race. Only three starts, but he got my attention running second in the Battaglia in only his third trip to the gate… and they are still making med/equipment adjustments on this talented colt. Bullet works over the track, getting ready for this… I think he rolls.
Let’s get back to the aforementioned Kara France, another lightly raced colt that looks to keep his hot hand going. That was a monster move in the SUN Derby (GIII), looking left for dead at the top of the lane, only to run second beaten a quarter length, again, in only his third start. He also has a win over this surface in the Leonatus Stakes, so he should feel right at home, as well.
In Good Order won the Battaglia, so I think he deserves a big look. The post position is what gets me, but then again, he won that race from the nine post, closing like a freight train to take the victory. Can he put back to back performances together from the outer-space gate? If so, we may have our KYD Futures “horse to watch”, that’s for sure.
The Card agrees with me, for the most part… adding a Mb horse in his tri, and you ALWAYS have to fear that outfit… looks like a real good one, so grab a wobble-pop and let’s get a good spot to take this one in.
