1 Sheza Kat John Henry Velazquez J R
She has shown some good form through the year but has failed to really improve on some good place efforts and gets her third owner here to try and find that improvement. I would say possibly her best run came back in February when a close third in the Herecomesthebride Stakes but whilst her works have remained the same her form if anything has declined slightly. If the new owner has found something in her the others didn’t she may run well but i think a place hope is her best chance.
2 Unmistakable Mb Stables Hernandez R M
She was well behind Sheza Kat in the Hercomesthebride but in contrast her form has improved since as have her works. Another perfect draw for Mb Stables will see her well fancied but a glance at her last two runs over this trip suggest she is no nailed on certainty. She was pretty average in the Lake Placid after a strong all the way win in the Wonder Again but those performances were pretty pace dependent so it may not be down to her as to how she runs.
3 Ete Creek Gdp Inc Lezcano J
She seems to have improved since being set to turf and improved again when stepped up in trip in her last start. She hasn’t got enough form on the board to win this but her turf works are strong and her SAR win over this trip albeit in lesser grade was pretty good. A dark filly who may sneak under the radar.
4 Czarina Two Hearts One Love Court J K
Bought for big money by the stable that was selling up and leaving a few weeks ago she looks to further revive their interest in the game and has a real chance of doing just that. The winner of the Eatontown in june she backed that up with a strong second in the San Clemente last time and has some of the best black type form in the race. The draw is good, this trip should suit so as long as the new owner has a good handle on her i think she is a major chance.
5 Playbook Keikowin Racing Jaramillo E
This is an unexposed filly who has yet to run in graded stakes but has won at ungraded level. That win came in the Honey Ryder where she won easily but it must be noted that was a weak four horse field and this is a real step up. She could be good enough or last but with so little to work with it is hard to tell which.
6 Deep Atonement Nakamura Stables Ryan S
Won the ONT Colleen last time out so is in career best form so must be taken seriously with the Nak Factor on her side. Ryan takes the reins again which is a nice help but my one main fear for her is getting home if this is a fast run race. The nine furlongs may be on her stamina limits but if she settles into a loose stalk she certainly has a winning chance.
7 Hash Tag Hash Estero Farms Tunon M
If it stays dry there are a few things that make her a good winning chance here. Tunon being in the saddle is a big help, this jockey seems to be riding turf like Pennington, Colon and Maldonado were before HRP changed their settings and that simple fact will be a big help. Secondly her dry track form was very good and was topped off with a win in the grade two Nassau Stakes before her spectacular failure in the wet BEL Oaks. Finally the trainer is due a win and as long as it stays dry will have a good chance with this one.
8 Very Brady Maletto Bravo J
Switched back to turf last time for a second at ungraded level her works on this surface suggest she can run at this level but she will need to step up. That wont be easy from this wide draw but this race isn’t overly strong and if she gets some favors from the race engine she is entitled to e there down the stretch.
9 Dawning Ice Age Maxmillion Farm Centeno D E
The turf king gets dealt a bad draw here but this fillies form is good enough if things go her way.The winner of the Herecomesthebride Stakes with Sheza Kat and Unmistakeable behind she also finished 16 lengths in front of Hash Tag Hash in the BEL Oaks when fourth so has the beating of a few of these on form. The big question is whether she can stay close enough without using too much early on, if that happens she has a winning chance.
10 Dime Piece Chili King Stables Lermyte J
Not a bad sort she has run into career best form in recent months but she is up against it with this horrible draw. Her last two races have been on the speed though so if she can use the wide gate speed push and get a soft lead she may have a chance.
SUMMARY
Not the best field for a grade one so it wont take too much winning. If it doesn’t rain then i think Hash Tag Hash has a good chance and you can’t write off our top three stakes trainers with Deep Atonement, Unmistakable and Dawning Ice Age.
