FG Oaks – Grade II [KYO]
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $400.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.
1st Credit Crime Aer Stables Ortiz I Jr
Another day and another dollar for the team of Credit Crime, Aer Stables and I Oritz jr. The filly was an overwhelming favorite for this race and really won it as she pleased and now the KYO looks hers to lose. Consistency is queen with her, she runs a similar pace in every race, sometimes it puts her mid-pack, sometimes at the back and sometimes in the stalk but wherever she travels through the race she always delivers at the end. The trainer will be able to wrap her in cotton wool now until the big day although I wouldn’t put it past them to try for one more big prize along the way. At only 15.1hh she is demure compared to her rivals but what she lacks in size she makes up for in class and guts.
2nd Valkyria Alydar Stables Espinoza V
Came with the stables trademark late run but was chasing shadows down the stretch. This was another super effort from the filly who will renew her rivalry in the Oaks with the winner and if things go her way, she could be one of the biggest dangers.
3rd See The Wind Mb Stables Franco M
Got to the lead where she seems to be at her happiest and for a while it looked as if she would last home. In the end two very good fillies beat her but considering she had only just broken her maiden this was a great effort.
4th Sune Lee Riggins Racing Lopez P
Traveled just behind the speed and looked to be moving up to make a telling challenge but in the end found little under pressure and just whacked away for fourth. I was a little disappointed with her effort down the stretch, but this was a very good field and fourth wasn’t a bad result at all.
