CT Oaks Looks Tough On Paper

                          The CT Oaks-GIII (P1)
                             CT Race 5 7F- Dirt
                               Purse $300.000
                         Three Year Olds Fillies

A decent sized field of eight fillies will be lining up on the Charles Town bullring. It’s a pretty good field I think and it should be a pretty exciting race to watch. All of them have had starts in stakes races and seven of the eight are coming directly out of a stakes race. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Coldpack (13-5-1-0 $824.400), trained by John Henry

Now here is a filly who is coming into this race off of a grade one win where she won the grade one Ballerina at Saratoga last time going gate to wire very impressively. A performance like that gives her the nod for me in here. She looks like one of the ones to beat in here to me and she should be tough.

2. Prima Dona (7-3-2-0 $132.000), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Well this filly trained by the wizard is coming into this race off of a win in a statebred stakes race at Saratoga. She won that day by a nose after going pretty much gate to wire that day. If she runs back to that race I think she could have a pretty good chance to win but she will have to run a big race.

3. Cocoa Nut (6-3-0-1 $204.250), trained by Team 7 Illusions

Well this filly is also coming out of the grade one Ballerina at Saratoga which Coldpack won but she didn’t run bad at all that day either as she finished third only beaten by a length in the end that day. She was closing late but just couldn’t get there but maybe this race will have a different end for her.

4. Rented Mule (10-3-1-2 $188.760), trained by Angelos Stable

Here is another one coming out of a graded stakes race and she ran fifth that day but she did win a statebred stakes race three back so she has some talent for sure. I do think she needs to be closer to the pace than she was last time also because she seems to run better when she is up close.

5. Dolphins Bay (12-5-2-1 $103.360), trained by Jokerjoes

Here is the only one in the field that didn’t run in a stakes race in their last start but she did run in a couple before that so she isn’t trying something new right here. She might be outclassed to me but anything can happen in these races so I wouldn’t ne surprised if she jumped up and ran a big race.

6. Helping People (9-7-1-0 $517.400), trained by Mb Stables

Now this filly right here is what I would call a win machine. She has only lost two times in her nine career starts and she is coming off of a win in the grade one Test over a sloppy track at Saratoga. She ran very good that day and if she runs that same race she can win and she is going to be my top pick.

7. Enchante (11-6-2-0 $227.840), trained by Hambletonian Stable

Here is another coming out of a graded stakes race and she just ran second in a grade three at Woodbine going this same exact distance. She was closing late that day and she should be ready to go in this race. If she runs that same race it gives her a pretty fair shot at having a chance to win.

8. Fortune Tune (14-3-1-4 $293.480), trained by Aml Racing

This filly is coming out of the grade one Test at Saratoga that Helping People won and she also ran pretty good that day to run fourth and get beat by three quarters of a length. That is definitely a margin that she can make up on that filly so if she has it in here I think she could come away with a win.

Summary

Well this is a pretty good race here with two grade one winners and plenty of stakes winners and stakes placed runners also. The top two look like Coldpack and Helping People and I’m going to go with Helping People because she has already beaten Coldpack before. Good luck to all in the race.
