1 Technology Sweep, trained by The Sidley Stud
There are not many two year olds with nine starts under their belt but this
one clearly loves her racing as she is still going strong. A great third in
The Schuylerville over this trip at grade three level put her amongst the top
of her age group and despite not being able to add to her maiden win she has
placed 5 times at black type level. She likes to come from off the pace which
shouldnt be a problem in a small field like this and her last work was right
around her best ever so she is clearly not feeling the effects of a long season.
Definately one for teh short list.
2 Silver Broomstick, trained by Blushing Meadows
Finished behind Technology Sweep in The Schuylerville she got stuck out the back
that day and could easily turn that around. A good win last time out at overnight
level see’s her come into this in top form but i do feel she may still need a length
more to really get involved in the finish.
3 Sunset Glow, trained by D J C Racing Stables
A highly consistent filly this is an interesting switch for her after winning over a
turf mile last time out. That win was in the ungraded Flower stakes and did suggest
that she had a turf preference but she has plenty of ability and may turn out to be
as good on dirt if her works are anything to go by. She is an interesting conundrum here
and could pull of the win but there may be too many if’s to put the mortgage on.
4 Cypress Artiste, trained by Alydar Stables
Yet to race at this level but three wins in a row and a super track work last time make
her a major contender to win in her first black type race. Her pacey style will suit with
so many closers in the race and i can see her sneaking some easy sectionals if she can get
on the lead.
5 Time To Freak, trained by Ubetracing.com
A decent sort and with a wide draw and a front running style she could cause problems
for Cypress Artiste. If these two can sort out the lead early enough and settle the two
outside gates may beat the rest for speed. I am not convinced by her works and her racing has
only been fair at this level so whilst she may well lead i cant see her staying there.
SUMMARY
On works alone Cypress Artiste should beat Technology Sweep and Sunset Glow. The only thing
that may change that is if Time To Freak and Cypress Artiste cut each others throats up
front which may set the race up for the closers and Technology Sweep.
