The Davona Dale Stakes – Grade II [KYO]
1 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.00 Filly 3 Year Olds.
1st Cannolo D J C Racing Stables Gaffalione T
This is not the first time the trainer has used sprints to sharpen his prospects up and once again he produced a surprise winner. Settling back from her wide draw she flew home for a fairly convincing win by three quarters of a length and looks a really nice KYO chance. Not the fastest worker as is often the case with the trainers horses she obviously showed some promise pre race because DJC bought her for $125.000 as a two year old and has been very patient with her ever since.
2nd Evening Star Fractious Ortiz I Jr
Brought pretty similar form into the race as the winner and also settled back to come with a late run. She looks like she will appreciate it the further she goes and looks a good KYO chance if she can go on from this.
3rd Blazing By Mb Stables Velazquez J R
Raced in the perfect position for much of the race the pace was quick enough for option B in the race engines repertoire and the closers came late to spoil her party. This was another solid effort by the grade one winner who will go the the Oaks to try and better this run.
4th Cheetah Angelos Stable Wilson E J
Once again i put a big circle around this filly who flew home to be fourth just two lengths behind the winner. I have a feeling if ever the luck of the draw falls in her favor she will pick up a very big race but just looking at her recent races it seems ‘luck’ seems to be consistently against her.
