3 OP The Rebel (GII) [KYD]

Due to a medical emergency here, this recap will have a different look than most, but I will get the chart completed at a later date.
It was a day of favorites, here at OP, and to nobody’s surprise, Daemon takes the victory in the Saturday’s The Rebel (GII), taking his win-streak to five consecutive wins and placing him at the top of my TC list. The final running time was 1:41.49 for the mile and a sixteenth, and the OP oval was listed as Fast. Pressing the leader throughout, the State Of Fury – Talk Sweet To Me, by Sweet Sweat gelding, homebred by his owner, Alydar Stables, moved to the lead with a furlong to run and was all out to the finish to take a gutty performance by a neck. Congrats to the connections!
Fawkes ended in a dead heat for the second spot in a very impressive manner as this one had a very wide trip, tipping out 5-6 wide down the lane and gave the winner all he wanted. Considering that he is still a maiden, that was a race that should have raised some eyebrows, and it will be interesting to see where he lands for his next start.
Alydar, our second choice, also had a rough and wide trip, but showed a lot of determination to end on even terms for the second spot. Closing widest of all, he may have been travelling the best in the late stages, making this one a horse to keep an eye on as the distances increase.
The WIlliams9 barn took the fourth and fifth spots as Tube nosed out his stable-mate Decal, Tube actually having the lead in the lane before being overtaken by the closers, while nabbing the minor share of the purse, and Decal, giving an even effort, while still showing some late interest, making him another to keep an eye on as the distances increase.
