Lure dead heats with Strickland taking The La Jolla Handicap, Lure stalked the leaders in mid pack then made good headway down the home stretch getting up on the wire to dead heat with Strickland who had run on down the back stretch for near the rear of the field taking up the lead entering the home stretch only to be caught on the wire with Final Decision a length further back in third. The winners are owned by Our Athletes (Lure) and Blushing Meadows (Strickland)

How they ran.
Lure settled four lengths off the pace in mid field then ran on very strongly down the home stretch getting up on the wire for a share of the spoils.
Strickland settled near the rear of the field ran on strongly taking up the lead entering the home stretch only to be caught on the wire for a dead heat.
Final Decision settled at the rear seven lengths off the pace then run on strongly getting up to take third.
Irons On Fire broke in fourth always around mid-pack finished in fourth.
A Crazed Trojan started in second then improved position taking up the lead a quarter of a length in front only to stay on at one pace being passed in the home stretch by the fast finishers dropping back to finish fifth.
Ghostly Deed started in the lead going a length in front of the field only back through the field to finish last of the six runners.
