                                  Two Year Olds

A group of ten two year olds is heading to the starting gate in this years Del Mar Futurity. It looks like a pretty good field to me and they look fairly evenly matched. Some have already ran in stakes and graded stakes and some are coming off maiden wins and races like that. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Hollywood Fairy Tale (3-1-0-0 $34.200), trained by Estero Farms

Here is one of the runners in the field that has tried some graded stakes company before and that was in his last out where he ran fourth in the grade three Sanford. He closed from way back that day and was rolling late so I think this extra furlongs will help out a lot. He has a chance I think.

2. Undisputed (4-1-0-0 $27.000), trained by John Henry

Here is another one who has tried out the graded stakes company before and that happened in his last out right here at Del Mar in the grade two Best Pal. He got smoked that day when he ran eleventh out of twelve. He has ran in three stakes and hasn’t hit the board in any of them so I count him out.

3. Storming (2-1-0-0 $32.400), trained by Blushing Meadows

Here is the Del Mar trials winner when he was the fastest two year old at five furlongs in the game. He was bought for four hundred dollars after that and then won his first ever race. He then ran fifth in the grade three Sanford last out. He is going to try to get back to winning ways in this spot.

4. Space Commander (3-0-1-0 $10.400), trained by Estero Farms

The maiden in the field but he at least ran a second in his last start. He’s been getting beat but it’s been closing finishes and he only gets beat about two lengths when it’s all said and done. I don’t really see him getting there though because he hasn’t won and this is grade one quality we’re talking about.

5. Capo Moon (4-1-1-0 $41.600), trained by Asgar

Here is a another horse who is coming into this race out of a stakes race. He just ran fourth in a statebred stakes race here at Del Mar and only got beat by a length. He isn’t a bad horse but he is going to have to run a huge race to win. Maybe he will and surprise everyone else in the race or maybe he wont.

6. Weak Sheik (3-2-1-0 $44.130), trained by Mb Stables

Here is an Ontario bred coming from the Mb Stables barn and he is coming off of a non two allowance win at Woodbine against state bred company. He won by two lengths that day against three other horses. I think he has a decent shot but he is going to have to run a very big race.

7. Clutch (2-1-0-1 $37.800), trained by Aer Stables

Here is another who is coming out of some graded stakes action. He ran third last out in the grade three Sanford and got beat by three lengths. He was passing horses late that day so maybe he will like the extra distance that he gets in here. I give him a shot also because he looks pretty good.

8. Commanding Bee (3-1-1-1 $53.520), trained by Serenity Stables

Here is one of the runners in the field that has not been running in stakes races yet. He broke his maiden in a maiden special weight here at Del Mar going around two turn at a mile. He is going to have to cut back to one turn in here but I do think he can do it. He has a good chance I think.

9. Hard To Kill (3-1-0-1 $59.000), trained by Mb Stables

The second entry in the race from Mb Stables is coming out of a graded stakes race here at Del Mar and that was the grade two Best Pal. He ran third that day and that definitely puts him in this race with a pretty good shot. He looks like the best to me and he is going to be my top pick in here.

10. Chrystal Believer (4-1-1-1 $67.200), trained by Maxmillion Farm

And now we come to the last runner but not the least. He is also coming out of the grade two Best Pal here at Del Mar and he ran fourth that day right behind Hard To Kill. Since Hard To Kill is my top pick I’m going to make him my second pick in here. He has a pretty good chance to win in here.

Summary

Well this is not the toughest grade one I’ve ever seen but it’s also no cake walk obviously because it’s still a grade one event. Maybe something good will come out of this race though and go on to keeping doing well the rest of the year. Good luck to everyone in the race and hope for an exciting one.
