We knew coming into Saturday’s Busher that Downtheredcarpet had been up against the best of the best… she proved that she is good enough to beat some pretty good horses, and was dismissed at nearly 12/1 odds.  Sitting well off of the early pace, the Barcelona Farms’ owned bay filly rallied when it counted, when the money was on the line, winning by a length in a final time of 1:41.80 on the AQU inner dirt track.  Art Of Glory was second, a length in front of Hot Seller, keying a big $1,127.10 trifecta.

The full field of twelve loaded and were away in good order with Cypress Artiste from the far outside, Art Of Glory away quickly, The Big Hause from the rail.  Moonlight Myra, Hot Seller next to that one and back to the outside with Technology Sweep.  By Arrangement taking up the early running with Kitty Packs A Punch, Downtheredcarpet along side that one, then Acer Line True Laffin Heiress and Fight Song was away slowest of all.

Racing around the clubhouse turn and onto the back stretch, six furlongs left to run and cypress Artiste was on the gas and in front by a length.  Art Of Glory on the rail chasing the leader, then a gap of two back to Moonlight Myra, The Big Hause on her inside, another length to Hot Seller, Technology Sweep another length back, Kitty Packs A Punch and Downtheredcarpet moving together, Acer Line three wide, By Arrangement between horses, True Laffin Heiress and the trailer was Fight Song, ten lengths covering the field.

Down the backside and nearing the far turn, five-sixteenths of a mile to run and Cypress Artiste’s lead was down to a neck as Technology Sweep swept up on the outside to challenge for the lead.  Art Of Glory still biding her time on the rail, then a gap of two and a half back to Moonlight Myra between horses.  Hot Seller on her outside, The Big House on her inside, then a gap of two back to the trio of Kitty Packs A Punch, Downtheredcarpet and Acer Line.  Two more lengths to By Arrangement, True Laffin Heiress with a ground saving trip and Fight Song still at the back, ten lengths away from  the leader.

Swing around the far turn and to the top of the lane, the field made their way past the three-sixteenths pole and Art Of Gory used that inside trip to cut the corner and take the lead by a half length.  Cypress Artiste trying to fight back, Technology Sweep caught wide into the lane in third, Hot Seller also wide and now asked to pick it up, Downtheredcarpet feeling the stick for the first time and being asked of, Moonlight Mara next to her, The Big Hause still saving ground, Kitty Packs A Punch with a clear shot at them, True Laffin Heiress along the inside, Acer Line out four wide By Arrangement between that pair and Fight Song still at the back, six lengths from the leader.

Deep stretch, Art Of Glory on the lead but Downtheredcarpet was steam-rolling down the lane and was gobbling up horses, Hot Seller also pressing forward widest of all as Cypress Artiste was putting the cue in the rack.  Technology Sweep trying to press up and the rest had a lot of work to do.

To the finish, there was no holding back Downtheredcarpet as she sailed under the wire by a widening length.  Art Of Glory was a clear second with Hot Seller edging out Technology Sweep for third.  Fight Song closed a huge gap late to be fifth, Cypress Artiste tiring to sixth, then Kitty Packs A Punch, Moonlight Myra, The Big Hause, True Laffin Heiress, Acer Line and By Arrangement closed this one out.

Downtheredcarpet is a 3yo bay filly by Model American – Get The Tarp Out, by Dark Laff, and she was bred in NY by Night Mare Racing.  Sold at the June 2015 Auction for $444.000, this was her fourth win from eight starts, and she now has $451.420 in earnings.
