Drilldownfortruth took her first meaningful step on the KYO trail with a powerful one-length victory in Saturday’s 11/8 $250.000 G2 Demoiselle. Racing from midpack, Drilldownfortruth was able to make a steady advance before getting the lead 100-yards out and secured 10 qualifying points with her win. Now a three-time winner from five career starts, Drilldownfortruth has now earned $210.000.
Breaking in the third flight and racing in tandem with Ask Forfree Delivery and Lemrun, Drilldownfortruth was a good four lengths behind the developing pace battle between Directors Chair and Heightened Exposure. She was at least four wide going around the first turn, but she was still just four lengths from the front as she entered the backstretch racing in sixth.
Going down the backside, Drilldownfortruth was able to move in a path and used Surrey for cover as the dueling leaders completed a half-mile in :47.63. Rounding the far turn, Drilldownfortruth moved two more paths to her outside and looked to have clear run. Directors Chair was in front as she completed six furlongs in 1:11.41, but the evntual winner was just starting to loom a major threat.
When she straightened for the drive, Drilldownfortruth had a full head of steam and only two horses in front of her. Directors Chair won the pace battle as she passed the eighth-pole in 1:35.92; however, a fresh, new challenger was coming down the center of the course and was now within a length of the lead. Drilldownfortruth took the lead just inside the sixteenth-pole and was able to edge away from Directors Chair throughout the final 100 yards, but Ask Forfree Delivery was making a charge in between those two.
At the wire, Drilldownfortruth was a full length in front. Directors Chair saved the place (and the four qualifying points that went with it) by a neck over Ask Forfree Delivery (two points). It was another half-length back to Swiss Skydiver (one point) who was followed home by Heightened Exposure, Surrey, Lemrun, Eggz, Peppermint Diamonds, and Steel Express. The final time for the nine furlongs was 1:48.44.
