The Jaipur – Grade I [BC]
5 1/2 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $500.000 Open 3-Year-Olds And Up.
1st Drinkin Creepin Mb Stables Velazquez J R
The AI as usual rode the perfect race today on this prolific sprinter who may already have locked up the title of Turf Sprinter of the year. Letting the leader go through the first quarter in a swift time there was no hurry to get to the lead where this one usually sits but instead using his gate he sat there and just waited for that fast pace to bring the lead to him. A half-length is about as dominant as you get in a competitive sprint race like this, and one wonders if there is anything that can beat this four-year-old who is now 5 from 5 in 2024.
2nd Whoa Bo Maxmillion Farm Bridgmohan S X
Used his wide gate to make the front but had to work very hard to get there and did remarkably well to hold on to second. This is one of those five-year-olds that has found a little extra in their fifth year and it wouldn’t take much more to give him a chance in the BC should Drinkin Creepin go over the top.
3rd Bluesman Spankys Barn Gaffalione T
With this gate, it was always going to be a big ask to go at a fast pace, and of the top three he had to run the furthest around the bend and pay the price. If there is a horse that could beat the winner come the BC, it is this one, especially if the draws were reversed.
4th Free Beer Night Rider Stables Geroux F
Another five-year-old that has found the five-year-old fairy dust ran an excellent race although was beaten fair and square by the three in front of him. There are some good races to be won with him, but he probably needs to avoid a few to find them.
