My oh my what a field of eight we have going to the post for this sprint…  you just can’t ignore any of these and the 2020 Great Lady M Stakes (GII) is one of those “must see” races.  Trying to pick one in here is just something I don’t want to do… but, I’ll look for First Impression to run a big one here today.  She was the runner up in the BC F&M Sprint (GI) and has been solid in every start since that.  She won last out and looks ready to go again.  I think Z Is For Zero is another tough nut and should be part of this.  Four wins in a row, and she may have forgotten how to get beat.  We had a couple of early scratches, but every one of these eight should be formidable and have a chance at the win.

Here’s The Field –

1
Gobekli Tepe    Smokey Stover    Fuentes Ru   123   7/2

Four thirds in a row… count ’em.  Now she’s also won half of her eighteen lifetime starts, so don’t think she’s an also ran, not with $923.000 in earnings.  Her last tow races were in graded company and she was third in the BC F&M Sprint last season, so you have to giver her a big chance every time she loads into the gate, and that goes here as well.   First start for the new connections, but it’s a smart outfit.

2
   Bluetooth Baby    Arindel    Figueroa H   123   5/1

Claimed for just $35.000 three back and it’s been lights-out since then…  she has a second and a pair of wins including the Winning Colors (GIII) at CD last out, making this one  a heck of a claim.  She’s won six of sixteen lifetime starts, and being two-for-four this year, you have to put her right in the thick of things.  She should be sharp.

3
   Z Is For Zero    First Street Stables    Pereira T J   119   5/2

It’s just keeps getting better for this one… four wins in a row including a pair of GIII wins in her last two starts, taking the Beaumont at KEE and then the Miss Preakness at PIM in her most recent.  That makes her five for nine and has only been off of  the board one time…  yeah, she’s good.

4
   Marbles Blitz    Aer Stables

5
   Diamond Dealer    Mb Stables

6
First Impression    Mb Stables    Cedillo A   123   3/1

Four seasonal starts and she shows a pair of wins and a pair of thirds from those efforts, winning the Hendrie (GIII) at WO last out, and that was at today’s distance.  She’s been on the board in eighteen of twenty-one life time starts, and was second in last years BC F&M Sprint (GI)… there’s not much more you need to know about this one, she can flat out get it.

7
   Threat Unknown    Mb Stables    Velez J I   121   4/1

She’s missed one check in seven starts and has won five of those races including back-to-back wins coming into today, and that last out win in the Eight Belles (GII) at CD proved she can get it done with a nice field.  She has tactical speed or can come from way back… she makes this a tough one-two-punch from the big stable.

8
Tommy Frazier    John Henry    Espinoza A   123   5/1

Got back to the winning ways last out taking the Whimsical (GIII) up at WO on a damp surface.  She has four wins from her sixteen lifetime starts and has run some big races in tough fields this year.  You certainly can’t remove her from the mix.

9
You Just Have 2 Wait    Estero Farms    Maldonado E   123   8/1

Hasn’t won since last Aug but she’s been right there in some very big races.  Won the Test (GI) in her most recent win, so you know she has a ton of class… just missed last out when second at BEL in the Vagrancy (GIII) and that was at this distance.  She’s another that certainly warrants a hard look.

10
   Malagan Girl    Spankys Barn    Roman E A   119   6/1

Three wins from her last five starts, all this year, and both of the other races were runner-up placings, and she closed well to get the DH-win at SA in the Desert Storm (GIII) in her most recent race.  She’s a rapid sort and comes from off of the pace, which may be an interesting style in this race.
