6 FG Bradley Stakes
$100.000 4yo&Up 1 1/16m Turf 123lbs +penalties
We get a nice field of eight set to go a mile and a sixteenth on the FG turf and we look at the field for the Bradley Stakes, as the boys head to the starting gate on Saturday. I’m jumping on the Steel Home bandwagon for this one, as he just never seems to run a bad race, and I expect more of the same today. He won half of his starts last season and should run big in this race. Proud Bo was game in the Commonwealth (GIII) at KEE in his last start of the season and looks to kick-off this season with more of the same. It’s a fairly wide-open affair, in my opinion, so let’s see how it shakes out.
Here’s The Field –
Picked up in the Sep Auction and has won both starts for the new connections, taking a pair of turf Alw races at PRX. This one looks to move up the ladder and you have to think he will be a big factor today. I like him a lot in this race, and I think you have to give him a big chance.
Lightly raced and makes the first start for this barn after getting tagged at CD for $50.000. 1-1-1 from three starts tells you that he’s a runner and his works say that he should be worth a look today. This is his first time going two turns, which is my only question on him.
Four wins from eight starts last season and was third in a trio of other starts, so you know he can run. He was third in the Sycamore (GIII) at KEE, and even though he’s an 8yo, he’s still giving a big effort at every turn. His am gallops say he’s ready for a new season and he’s ready to deliver in this race.
A pair of wins last season, but they came early in the year and he went on a long string of eh-type races. NY-bred foes have been his game, so it’s interesting to see him in this race. His best should put him in the picture, so let’s see what we get.
Very consistent type shows a win and five runner-up efforts from six ’22 starts. He won his final start of the year, getting home first vs Aly types at PRX, and that was on the lawn, which is his game. He closed big-time in that win, so do we see similar today?
A pair wins last season, but no pictures since July when he took down Alw types at CD (DH). He was close in those final four starts, three of which were vs. NY-bred stakes company. I think he’s going to need his very best to be part of this one.
He didn’t get his picture taken in the ’22 season but was second in a trio of starts including his last out run in the Commonwealth Turf (GIII) at CD. That race was on a wet lawn, so they may be hoping for rain clouds on Saturday.
Another that went the last quarter of ’22 without a win but was close in a number of races including a runner-up effort in the Lure at SA. I think he’s going to enjoy the longer distance, so keep in mind, especially if you are looking for some value and odds.
