It was an upset kind of a day in Gotham City and The Cigar Mile Hcp (GII) helped that theme along as TwinTowersRacing’s Eight West Party closed from the clouds to win for the first time this year.  Sent off at 10/1 odds, the gray entire had been close in a number of big raced, graded races… BIG graded races, but he hadn’t won since taking the Suburban last year… again, his only win of last season.  With wins like that, you only need one a year.  The final margin was a quarter length, and he covered the flat mile in 1:334 over the fast AQU main track.  Mb Stables won this race last year, and took second today as State General stayed close to the pace throughout, took the lead in the lane, but didn’t even see the eventual winner coming, still able to secure the runner-up spot.  Tiz Trippi from the Rock Creek barn also closed a late gap to be a length back in third, then a quarter-length to Luz International’s Angle Of Attack in fourth.  Four lengths covered the field of eight.
