Three Year Olds

A group of eleven three year olds are lining up right here this years grade three Peter Pan Stakes here at Belmont Park. Now although this race is not a Triple Crown race it is the local prep for the Belmont Stakes. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Brady Is A Lady (7-1-3-0 $141.800), trained by Sharis Stables

The first runner we come across right here was entered in the Derby last week but he was on the also eligible so he did not get to participate in that race. He has been running pretty good in Derby preps and I think he fits good in the spot and he will have a good chance.

2. Get Jiggy With It (7-4-0-1 $377.250), trained by Serenity Stables

This next horse right here is coming into this race off of about a four month layoff. He has not ran since he was sixth in the grade three Lecomte at Fair Grounds. He has not ran in a while and that is the main question mark for me. Not sure if he is fit enough but he might have a chance.

3. St Louis (5-1-1-0 $56.000), trained by D J C Racing Stables

No surprise to have an entry from the wizard D J C Racing Stables in here as this runner is coming into this race off of a seventh place finish in the grade two BG Stakes. He didn’t run that bad of a race in there and if he runs that type of race I think he will have a good chance in here.

4. Reacher (6-2-1-1 $162.120), trained by La Rosa Stables

The next runner right here is coming into this race off of a last place finish in the grade two BG Stakes. The race before that he won the grade three Ruby Stakes though which was a Derby points race so if he runs that type of race I think he will rebound off of his last out.

5. Opus Force (6-3-0-0 $194.000), trained by Mb Stables

The first of two entries from Mb Stables right here and this runner was one of the biggest Hope’s for the Derby at the beginning of the year. He went three for three early in his career including a win in the grade three Lecomte. He has ran terrible in his last three but if there is any chance for him to regain his form it is in this race.

6. Marx On The Moon (7-3-0-1 $182.200), trained by Court Jester Racing

This next runner right here is coming into this race off of a win in the grade three Bay Shore at Aqueduct. He likes running seven furlongs as he is perfect at the distance but every time he stretches out he doesn’t run very well. He is a good horse but I don’t think he likes to go a route of ground.

7. Zee Unit (8-1-4-1 $44.180), trained by Rampage Stable

And now to this runner right here who is making his first start in stales company. He has been running at Fair Grounds in his last two races which were a fourth and second place finishes. He has been running well with allowance runners but this is a huge jump up in class and I’m not sure if he will be able to handle it.

8. Senora West (9-3-1-2 $161.080), trained by Mb Stables

Second of the two entries from Mb Stables right here and this one is coming into this race off of a fifth place finish in the grade two BG Stakes. He was the pacesetter that day and he ran a huge race to hang on for fifth. Maybe if he sits off the lace in here he will have a big chance to win.

9. Smugglers Blues (9-1-3-1 $100.480), trained by John Henry

Now to this horse right here who is coming into this spot off of a second place finish in the grade three Coolmore Lexington. That was definitely his best race to date and he ran a big one in there. If he can repeat that performance I think he will be very tough to beat in here.

10. Delaware Warrior (4-1-0-2 $35.640), trained by Nakamura Stables

Now this next runner is coming into this race off of about a three month layoff. In his last start he ran third in the El Camino Stakes at Golden Gate which is a minor Derby points race. I don’t know if he is fit enough for this one but if he is I think he has an alright chance to win this.

11. War Command (7-1-1-1 $52.720), trained by Estero Farms

And the final runner right here in the field and this horse will be making his first start for Estero Farms. He is coming into this race off of a fifth place finish in the grade two San Felipe. He has a very tough draw and I don’t think he is good enough so I just don’t really see him winning.

Summary

Now even though this race is during the Triple Crown series there is still some quality there year olds in here. A couple of them could actually be seen in the Belmont if they run good enough. My top pick in here is Brady Is A Lady and I think he will run a big race. Good luck to all in the field.
