The El Camino – NG [KYD]

Three Year Olds
A group of eleven three year olds are going to be contesting this years El Camino which is a race that can help them earn Kentucky Derby points and push them toward making the derby field. It was a full field but there was an early scratch so just eleven go to the post. Now let’s take a look at the field.
1. Timber Rattler (8-3-1-1 $176.440), trained by Williams9
Right here we have a stakes winner who has won a couple of New Mexico stakes races already in his career. He hasn’t ran outside of the state of New Mexico actually. This is his first time against open runners pretty much so not sure how he will handle these runners but I think he will have a shot.
2. New Rv (4-1-1-0 $6.960), trained by Night Rider Stables
Now this runner here is one that is definitely taking a jump up in class and just in here to take a shot. His only win was in a free track maiden race and since then he has been beaten in claiming races and a statebred allowance race. He will need to definitely to run the race of his life to have a shot in here.
3. Digital Fraud (7-2-0-2 $68.300), trained by Nakamura Stables
The first of two runner from Nakamura Stables is this runner right here and he is a stakes placed horse who ran third in the Display Stakes at Woodbine last year. His only start this year was in the grade three Lecomte at the Fair Grounds where he ran tenth. I think he might have a shot in here if everything works out for him.
4. Delaware Warrior (3-1-0-1 $19.640), trained by Nakamura Stables
The other runner from Nakamura Stables right here and he is a lot less seasoned compared to his stablemate. He broke his maiden in his last state in a maiden special weight at Turfway Park. This is a big step up in class though and he will have to run a very big race to win.
5. Ardetha (3-2-0-0 $41.700), trained by Aer Stables
Now right here is a horse who is on the improve I think. He has won his last two races against maiden special weight at Tampa Bay and then he won an allowance race at Gulfstream Park. I think that he is a horse that that is improving with every start and I think he will be ready to go in this race.
6. Strategic Edge (3-2-0-0 $1.880), trained by Maletto
Well this runner here has won two of his three careers starts but he has never won a pay race. His only pay race start was in his last start where he ran fourth in an optional claimer at Gulfstream Park on the slop. I just do not know how to rate him against these other runners.
7. Maybe Tonight (8-3-1-0 $85.040), trained Alydar Stables
Scratched
8. Beaver Wars (4-0-2-0 $20.000), trained by Team 7 Illusions
Well here is a maiden in the field which is sort of a surprise but this horse isn’t a huge longshot at all. He has ran two seconds in a row in a statebred maiden special weight at Santa Anita and a maiden special weight at Gulfstream Park. I don’t see him winning but he is hopeless either.
9. Brooklyn Nine Nine (4-1-0-1 $22.250), trained by D J C Racing Stables
Here is a runner that just broke his maiden in his last start when he dead heated for a win against maiden special weight company at Gulfstream Park. The only that is questionable with this horse is that he is unproven around two turns and has not faced this type of competition before.
10. Niner So Dreamy (3-1-0-0 $0.000), trained by Serenity Stables
Now here is another who is only has one win that was at the free track. That win was in his last start and it was his first start on dirt. It was over a track rated good but he did win a by an eye catching eight lengths. It is definitely a big step up in class so not too sure how he is going to handle it.
11. Tongariro (7-3-1-1 $115.040), trained by Smokey Stover
Well this horse right here is the one that I am going to make my top pick because he is on a roll with two wins in a row. There were both against optional claimer company at Santa Anita and they both were going a route of ground. He is going to be my top pick on this spot.
12. Threaded (5-2-2-0 $38.440), trained by Mb Stables
I think that horse right here is also going to have a very good chance also. Now this horse did get a prep over this track in his last start when he won an optional claimers last out here at Golden Gate over the mud. He looks like a horse with some talent for sure but the outside post does hurt him.
Summary
A big ol field of eleven three year olds right here that are going to be going for derby points makes this a very interesting race. The winner will earn ten derby points and will maybe be able to use this race as a stepping stone on to bigger races. Good luck to everyone that is in the field.
