5 GP The Marshuas River Stakes (GIII)
$150.000 4yo&UpF&M 1m inTurf 124lbs +penalties
We have a great day of racing here in Hallandale FL, and we see eleven entered for The Marshuas River Stakes (GIII), a flat mile turf stakes for the older ladies, at GP. Limited Risk didn’t run a bad race in 2020 and I think she will not only carry that form into the new season but can actually improve on it. She’s won stakes, but graded horses have been tougher for her – today, I think she turns that around. Let’s drop down towards the rail and put Certain Vessel in the second spot. She’s fits the description of the top choice, and again I think she is a horse that has her best races in front of her. If you are looking for chalk, the outside post should secure that for you and you have to give Unmistakable a serious look. I know she didn’t run great in her first start for the new owner, but they didn’t plunk down that kind of money for nothing… look for her to get back into the swing of things here today.
Here’s The Field –
Plucked out of an OptAlw race for $40.000 last out and they go right into the deep end of the pool. She’s won three in a row at the Alw-type level so it seems like a logical spot and her best racing could be in front of her..
Three wins last season and just missed in her final start of ’20 after setting the pace throughout in the Forever Together at AQU. All of her wins came at the Alw level but she proved she can run with this type in that last out near miss, so give her a chance today.
Three wins last season including a big victory in the DMR Oaks (GI), which is her highlight so far. If she can run back to that race, should could be a big factor, but she really hasn’t shown that form since. She did win her last out effort, taking SA Alw horses to task, so maybe she’s headed back to that form.
Three wins last season, all at the stakes level including a nice win at a mile in the Noble Damsel (GIII) where she closed fast to get the job done. Her last two starts of the season were less than what you’d want to see, but maybe she gets back on track here and makes a splash.
Her two seasonal wins came in the first two starts of the ’20 season, taking the Lilly Stakes at HOU then The Very One (GIII) here at GP. After that she only hit the board one time, a runner-up effort in The NY (GII) so she’s going to have to find a bit more if she wants to contend here.
Another that saw both of her wins come back in the spring of ’20, and her last four races have been a pair of fourths and a pair of runner-up efforts where she face lesser than what she will see today. She certainly has some ability, but will need her best to be a factor here.
Makes a big raise in class off of her $15.000 claiming win last out at PEN. She show three wins from eleven starts, but she’s never seen the likes of these. This is the deep end of the pool.
A pair of wins from her ’20 starts and she was on-the-board in seven of eight starts, also showing a third in the Noble Damel (GIII) at BEL. She loves the mile(ish) distance and could be in the thick of things when they near the wire.
Another that did the bulk of her damage in Alw company but was competitive when facing black type or graded foes. Fourth in the Dianna (GI) and sixth in the Flower Bowl (GI), both beaten two lengths. She had some gaps in her form, and will need to turn it up a notch here.
Three wins last season, two of those at the Alw level and had a near miss to close out the season when beaten a nose in the Tropical Park Oaks at GP. She set the pace in that one and has a nice early turn of foot… speed is a nice weapon.
She had a great ’20 season winning the Wonder Again (GIII) and the Taylor (GI) along with three other on-the-board finishes including a runner up effort in the BC FM Turf (GI). She sold for a pretty penny after that race, but only beat one horse in her return for the new connections. Can she get back on-track today?
