The $150.000 G3 Victory Ride will be run on Saturday, July 10 at BEL.  The G3 event is for 3YO fillies going 6.5 furlongs over “Big Sandy”.  Along with the purse, the eleven sophomore fillies in the gate will be competing for precious BC qualifying points.  The winner of the race receives 4; 2nd place takes home 2; 3rd place gets 1 to use towards a start in the BC F&M Sprint.  Dynark Stables (2009, 2011) and Mb Stables (2017, 2020) are the only conditioners to win this race twice and jockey J. Velazquez has booted home three winners of this event.  Let’s meet this year’s field for the $150.000 G3 Victory Ride at BEL:

#1 Mayflower (Crocker Ggs/S.X. Bridgmohan): Uncle Zaf filly returns today after competing in the G1 KY Oaks and four graded preps (won the G3 Santa Ysabel) during the winter and spring.  Returning to the same 6.5 furlong trip that she last saw when she won the $100.000 South Ocean Stakes at WO in November.  Has hit the board in five of her six sprint contests so she should relish the return to one-turn racing.  Definitely looks the part of a contender in this wide-open event.

#2 Sickmoment Laga (Night Rider Stables/J. Velazquez): Recently seen last month running a very good 2nd in the G1 Acorn, the daughter of Moment of Madness will break from stall number two in this one. Last win was a front-running score in the G2 SA Oaks on April 3, and took a G3 at SA back in February as well.  Looks to have a say in the outcome of this one with her best.

#3 Mycrazyxgirlfriend (Mb Stables/D. Davis): The first of two in here for Mb Stables, this Lovebomb filly appears to relish racing around one-turn.  Comes here off of two 5th place efforts in consecutive G3 tries, but only one of those was a sprint contest.  Not sure what to make of the Ms Preakness-G3, but, if you can forgive that effort, there are some positives; however, this girl doesn’t look as appealing as her stablemate.  Pass.

#4 Dialing (Angelos Stable/M. Garcia): Claimed for $37.500 in a WO romp on June 11, this daughter of Canading looks to pay dividends for the new conditioner here.  That effort received a big number and was her second consecutive conditioned-claimer score, and the waters are infinitely deeper here, but you take your swings when you get the chance and she does appear to be talented.  This one will definitely be a part of the early pace scenario but feel that she finds this company just a bit too tough for her liking.

#5 Miss Atomic Bomb (Aarons Hosses/M. Smith):  Maybe she learned something in those previous two stakes attempts as she put away ALW foes at LAD going seven panels last month.  This homebred daughter of Southern Style just missed the G3 Ms Preakness when third back in May, so she can compete with these.  Only real knock is that she appears to favor making one run and you always worry about traffic and trip problems arising; however, if M. Smith can work his magic, she can definitely get a piece if not the whole pie here.

#6 Jedediah (D J C Racing Stables/S. Ryan): Homebred daughter of Fox News has taken three cracks at NY-bred stakes and has come up empty each time, but she does show two place finishes where she just missed.  Has only missed the board in one of her six starts, but she is winless in four tries this season so she will need a career-best effort here to make an impact.

#7 Ms Joyce (RNP Stables/J. Rosario): Maybe the hottest horse in the field, Ms Joyce brings a three-race winning streak (last two in ungraded stake events) into this one.  She showed her talent as a juvenile when she took down the G2 Adirondack at SAR at the end of another three-race winning streak.  In between streaks, she went unplaced in five of six starts.  Has the conditioner unlocked the secret to getting the best out of this daughter of Creepy Time?  If so, this one looks to be a major player.

#8 Smiling Lucy (Nakamura Stables/V. Carrasco):  Happy Happy Joy Joy homebred filly was on the early portion of the G1-KYO trail, but returned to sprint races for her last three.  Was unsuccessful in her TP stakes try, but followed that effort with two conditioned-ALW scores so enters with some momentum here.  Couldn’t defeat graded stakes foes in her lone try routing, but this is her first such crack at sprinters.  Appears that she will perform better in this graded try, but still question whether she can beat all of these to the wire.

#9 Shes A Freak (Mb Stables/Ru. Gonzalez):  The stronger part of the trainer’s entry, this daughter of Mazula Ruler just missed when 2nd in the G3 PIM try.  Before that, found success in taking down the $100.000 Cicada over six furlongs.  The post isn’t great, but this filly is pretty honest and expect to see her making a run down the lane.  Definite exacta candidate.

#10 Great Mojo (John Henry/E. Jaramillo): Another who enters here riding a three-race winning streak, this homebred Great Creep filly has defeated WV-bred foes in her latest two.  Missed the board in her debut, but has been in the exacta in six straight contests over various sprint distances and that is a very strong June 28 work at WO.  If she can overcome the draw (and pass the obvious class test), think she runs the rest of these down by the time they hit the wire.

#11 Exultant Girl (Twin TowersRacing/J. Lezcano): Despite sporting just one win, this Exultant filly was successful enough during the prep season to earn participation in the G1 KY Oaks.  Sprints today for the first time since January and is in need of some improvement.  If she throws her best, she can grab a slice here, but this is a pretty salty group to tackle when needing a reversal of form.

Final Analysis: 10-9-2-7 Good luck to all in the 2021 $150.000 G3 Victory Ride!
