Eleven Vie for KYO Points in Busanda

$100.000 Ungraded Stake
For Fillies Three Years Old
1m70 on the Dirt at AQU

Judging by their two-year-old careers, Muffler and Cape Velvet should be the ones to watch 9th running of the Busanda at AQU. Both have won at stakes level, Muffler in the muddy $150.000 ONT Lassie Stakes for ON-breds, and Cape Velvet in the $125.000 Glorious Song. But Shes El Grand deserves a look. After duking it out in graded company most of last year, she scored a 94 SRF in her last effort in the Golden Rod (G2) at CD. She shortens up by 1/16 mile here. These look like the stand-outs, but anything can happen with three-year-old fillies this dearly in the year.

1 Genimi Sspoils
Owner: LionKing Stables
Breeder: Bombay Stables

Just three starts for this filly, and her record stands at 3-2-1-0. SRF numbers aren’t as good as others and the lack of experience could get in her way.

2 Cash
Owner: Downwind Stables
Breeder: Bigking

Broke her maiden on the turf at WO in impressive style. Followed that up with another win in the $75.000 AP Washington Lassie. Couldn’t hit the board in the Grade 1 Frizette. Tried to stretch out to 1 1/8 mile in the ON-bred $250.000 Coronation Futurity. After leading early, she faded to finish 3rd of four.

3 Muffler
Owner: Sccj Stables
Breeder: Pan Farms

This one looks like the real deal with a two-year-old record of 5-2-2-1 $193.540. In her last start, the Ontario Lassie, she stretched out to 1 1/16 miles and wired the field in the mud. Should be a factor and a win wouldn’t be a surprise.

4 Shes El Grand
Owner: John Henry
Breeder: Pan Farms

Second by ½ length in the Schuylerville (G3) at six furlongs in July. Still to get her first stakes win in five tries. This could be the one, but she has her work cut out for her.

5 Laffin Lady
Owner/Breeder: TwinTowersRacing

Tried stakes and graded stakes last summer without success. Last out she wired a field of six in a N1X at SA on turf. She’s going to have to step it up to compete here, but if she repeats that performance on dirt, she could be a factor.

6 Casi Kruz
Owner/Breeder: Brave

In the money three times in five starts, including a Maiden Special Weight win at BEL and a second in N1X company last out, both at 1 1/16 mile. Not as experienced as some in this field, but if it comes up wet, she could be in the winner’s circle. Look for her just off the pace.

7 Cape Velvet
Owner: Sheffler Stables
Breeder: Teamf Racing

Broke her maiden at MTH in August and moved to stakes level in her next start. In all, she has completed four times at that level and scored a win last out in the Glorious Song Stakes where she earned a 95 SRF. She could make it two in a row.

8 Ladies Night
Owner/Breeder: Oval Express Farms

Coming off back-to-back wins on the turf, one a maiden win at TUP. The other came in N1X company at FG. Distance isn’t a concern. Surface may be, as this is her first start on dirt. Short works on dirt and turf are comparable. Let’s see if she can carry that for a mile seventy.

9 Pink Beauty
Owner/Breeder: Gdp Inc

Broke her maiden two starts back at FL. Immediately stepped up to stakes level with a close second place finish in the $100.000 The Trapeze at RP. Impressive 95 SRF in that effort, but with just three career starts, she will have to step it up again to win here.

10 Laff How
Owner/Breeder: Gdp Inc

Gdp’s other entrant has four starts but only one victory, that in a Maiden Special Weight at TP. Tried stakes company last out in the $30.000 AZ Juvenile Fillies and finished fourth in a field of six. Her maiden win was at a mile, so she should like the distance.

11 Updated
Owner/Breeder: Mb Stables

Won a N1X at FG over the same distance as this contest after sitting second for half the race. This and a maiden win at GP first out are her only trips to the winner’s circle, but she’s been close in all four starts. Another one that may lack experience.
