The Turf Monster Handicap – GIII
9/2/19
PRX Race 2 5F – Turf
Purse $300.000
Three Year Olds and Up
A field of only five turf sprinters have been entered for this years running of the Turf Monster Handicap over this turf course at Parx. It is a small field but there is some nice runners in this field. Let’s take a look at the field.
1. Angels Chance (10-3-3-2 $126.000), trained by Midnight Racing
The first runner in the field right here is coming into this race off of a win in an optional claimer at Saratoga. He ran a very big race that day and beat a tough field. He should have a pretty good chance in this race.
2. Credible (18-8-2-5 $229.020), trained by Mb Stables
This next runner in the field is coming into this race off of a tough sixth place finish in the grade three Troy Handicap at Saratoga. Before that he won four in a row including the Umphrey Turf Sprint Handicap. I think he will run big in this race.
3. Jolly Be Native (34-6-9-4 $1,310.900), trained by John Henry
The old hard knocker right here is coming into this race off of a second place finish in the grade three Green Flash Handicap at Del Mar. He run second in the grade three Parx Dash here earlier this year also. He shows up every time and he should here also.
4. Friends Of A Feather (26-7-6-3 $450.870), trained by Royalty Racing
Another hard knocker right here and he is coming into this race off of a narrow defeat in a wide open allowance race at Del Mar. He ran very good that day and was only beaten a nose. I think he has a shot in here also.
5. Cold Weather Rider (28-9-5-9 $396.670), trained by Night Rider Stables
The final runner in the field here is coming into this race off of a narrow loss in a starter allowance at Del Mar. He has been knocking on the door in stakes races before that though. He will be tough in this spot but he has a tough post.
Summary
Well it is only a field of five but I can definitely see any one of the five winning this race. They all seem pretty evenly matched to me and it is tough to pick a winner but I am going to go with Credible. Good luck to all in the field.
