A soft surface may have been the story of Saturdays Shakertown (GII), a five-and-a-half-furlong sprint for the older gents… we had a pair of scratches and Mb Stables‘ Exemplary closed with a rush to get up in the final sixteenth of a mile, securing the win for the big barn. The final running time was 1:05.41. A 4yo colt by Tactical – The Belle Tolls by Perfect Command, this was his fourth win from nineteen lifetime starts, and his first win from three starts this season. He now shows earnings of $1,763.220.
Little Tiger, from the Ajm Stables, had a short lead in the lane, and showed a ton of heart… giving the winner about all he wanted. But it was not to be on this soggy Lexington afternoon, and the runner-up spot was the end result. Big Jd Racing’s Jupiter Moon was two lengths back in third, then another quarter length to Mo Mentum Farm’s Grayte Agent in fourth. Five lengths covered the field of six… the two scratches were Chilled Niagra and Last Way To The Beac, both from Maxmillion Farm.
