The Test – Grade I
7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $500.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.
SAR made the news today as the racecourse was subject to a bizarre phenonomen where a rain cloud sat only over the track whilst all the surrounding areas stayed dry and sunny. Thus as neighbours watered their gardens the track was turned into a sloppy bog giving some trainers a nice surprise as they arrived on course whilst others were left shaking their heads.
1st Fangs, trained by John Henry
She couldnt manage to win an allowance last time but the winner of the grade three Miss PS in May added this grade one to her record showing once again how off the current class system really is. A winner of 6 from 11 this was no fluke due to the going and there is no doubt she is building a very decent dance book. Just behind the leaders for the first half of the race she really extended down the stretch and never looked in danger to record a one length win. As long as she doesnt try and win another allowance i can see her going to the BC with another stakes win under her belt and on this evidence she will have a lively chance.
2nd Natural Zone, trained by Mb Stables
She started the odds on favourite despite the rain but never looked entirely happy on the surface trailing early and although she ran past everything bar one she was never going to reach the winner.
3rd French Connection, trained by D J C Racing Stables
She stalked the early leader but has found a worrying trend of fading in teh closing stages of her races and did so again today despite the drop in trip.
4th Ranch, trained by Pan Farms
This zippy turf sprinter was shot into the lead by the outside speed push and was never going to last in the mud ending up a tired fourth.
