KD Ladies Turf – Grade 3 – $750.000 Purse
KD – For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward
1 Mile – Turf

Fangs Of The Storm (Arindel) spent most of the one mile contest pinned in by traffic, but when she swung to the outside at the top of the stretch, she poured it on, going from seventh to first in about a furlong and a half.
A wall of horses broke on the lead. Always Condottieri (Maletto) came away fastest, but only by a fraction of a length, with One Skeleton (TwinTowersRacing), Zin (Rock Creek) and Summers Day (Maxmillion Farm) stretched across the track just behind her. Behind them, Fangs Of The Storm was sandwiched between Hawaii County (Mb Stables) and Time And Again (TwinTowersRacing). Two lengths back Shining Moments (RNP Stables) and Twisted Express (Mb Stables) ran stride for stride, with My Girl Makita (Smokey Stover) last after a furlong.
Always Condottieri opened up by a length up the hill, but nothing much changed otherwise. After another furlong, One Skeleton moved ahead of the others to take second behind Always Condottieri. Zin lost a little ground and forced Fangs Of The Storm to lose ground as well.
Into the turn, Always Condottieri held on to the lead over One Skeleton with Summers Day third on the rail. Zin ran fourth with Hawaii County and Time And Again vying for fifth. Fangs Of the Storm still had nowhere to run.
Around the turn, Fangs Of The Storm dropped out of it and looked beaten. She trailed by nearly five lengths behind Always Condottieri who ran uncontested on the lead. As the field approached the head of the stretch, Fangs Of The Storm looked for room on the outside, only to be hemmed in by Zin, Time And Again, and Hawaii County in front and Shining Moment to her outside.
Fangs Of The Storm managed to work her way to the outside at the head of the stretch and turned it on. The eventual winner was not the only one looking for room. Twisted Express found a seam on the inside and these two gobbled up ground in tandem. With a furlong to run, they each had one horse to beat – Always Condottieri who had led the entire way. Twisted Express seemed to have a slight advantage over Fangs Of The Storm, but at the wire it was Fangs Of The Storm by half a length over Twisted Express. Hawaii County got up for third with Always Condottieri holding on for fourth.
It was the seventh win in twenty-six starts for the four-year-old daughter of Commanding The Storm by Coatlicue (Cherokee Sunset). She was bred in FLA by owner Arindel. The win brings her career earnings to $1,365.690. Congratulations to Arindel and his homebred Fangs Of The Storm.
