Fig Fuel Looks for Fourth Straight Win in Grey Stakes

Grey Stakes – Grade 3 – $150.000

WO – 1 1/16 mile – Dirt

For Two Year Olds

November 26, 2022

In four starts, Fig Fuel has never finished off the board. He has put together string of wins that includes the $100.000 LA Legacy. Fig Fuel is definitely the one to beat.

Here’s the field:

#1 Ancient Ways (Nakamura Stables) Two wins for this gelding. Broke his maiden at FP in MSW company by three lengths, then last out he won in allowance company at GRP by five. Both victories were at lower levels. Big step up for this one.

#2 Keep Me Apprised (Alydar Stables) Seventh in his only start. Another one that is trying to take a big step up.

#3 Decision Is Made (Nakamura Stables) Won in allowance company at GRP last out. May lack the experience to compete here.

#4 Skill Not Luck (Axeman) Claimed for $32.000 two starts back, then finished second in the NY-bred $200.000 Sleepy Hollow. Looks like a real contender.

#5 Hiei (Fractious) Won in allowance company at PRX last out. Look for a late move from this one. Should have a say in the outcome.

#6 At The Gates (Mb Stables) Broke his maiden in upper-level MSW company at KEE last start.  Big step up, but he just might be ready for it.

#7 The King (Williams9) Allowance winner with a victory at KEE last out. Another one with a real shot here.

#8 Mahogany Maragh (Rock Creek) Broke his maiden last out at GP in FL-bred MSW company in the slop. Like his chances.

#9 Fig Fuel (La Canada Racehorses) Only stakes winner in the field. Riding high on a three-race winning streak that includes the state-bred LA Legacy at DED. The one to beat.
