Fillies Will Fight in The Sweetest Chant

GP 4     The Sweetest Chant (GIII)

A nice group of sophomore fillies will be headed to the inner lawn at GP on Saturday and we look at the field for the 2020 The Sweetest Chant (GIII) to be run at the mile distance.  I’m gong to the big barn yet again with my picks and put Never Enough on top.  She lost to my second choice, Leave It To Me, last out… I think the post positions will reverse those two in this battle.  I also like Sheza Kat as she looks to be any type with only three races under her belt including that stakes score over this surface last out, but again, the post is my hang-up.

Here’s the Field –

1
Hollywood Greek  Chili King Stables  Gaffalione T 121 4/1

It’s been an up and down kind of a journey for this one, winning the Catch A Glimpse, then fifth facing graded horses, only to bounce back and win the Jessamine (GI) by two, then never fired on BC Day as the post time favorite.  She has some real talent and needs to be feared.

2
Too Scared To Party  Martyparty  Velazquez J R 121 7/1

Nice back to back wins, the latest at a mile over the SA turf course while tackling Alw foes, so this is a step up in class.  She won that SoCal race in a quick time and has been dominate in her last two starts.  What do we have here?

3
Carlitos El Mono  Establo Pichon  Ortiz J L 121 10/1

Broke maiden at first asking and hasn’t made it back to the picture booth in three consecutive races.  Was sixth last out facing Fla-bred stakes horses and it certainly won’t be getting any easier today.

4
Stir Crazy  Mb Stables  Jaramillo E 121 10/1

Second v. Alw horses at PRX last out while trying turf for the first time.  She held her own in that race but this is certainly more salty than that bunch.  She was fifth v. Fla-bred stakes horses prior to that race so this will be a challenge.

5
 Slipdamaloo  Aer Stables  Tunon M 121 7/2

Nice come back score v. Alw horses at SA after tiring a bit in the BC Juv Fillies Turf (GI), running fifth the day.  She won the Natalma (GI) at WO prior to BC Day, so don’t think she isn’t a turf monster.  She has a big chance to score in this one.

6
 No More Tears  T Boy Racing  Bridgmohan S X 121 4/1

Has won three of four, all on the turf, so there’s ability in this one.  Nice win at FG last out facing Alw horses but was fifth in the Tepin at AQU, although that was over a wet lawn.  Baring rain, you have to look seriously at this one.

7
Never Enough  Mb Stables  Bejarano R 121 5/2

Her undefeated string was snapped last out when losing by the smallest of margins in the Blue Norther at SA.  that was at today’s distance and she was moving forward with every jump.  She should be a huge factor again in this one.

8
 Here Z Comes  First Street Stables  Desormeaux K J 121 5/1

Never off of the board in four starts and has two wins including a last out score on the CRC lawn at a mile and a sixteenth.  Obvious step up in class but she looks like she’s ready to take on the world.

9
Techno Slayer  The Sidley Stud  Landeros C 121 4/1

Nice closing effort to be second in the Tempted (GIII) at AQU last out coming off of a pair of nice races vs WV-breds before that.  She failed against stakes horses in her only turf effort, so there are some questions.

10
Leave It To Me  Fractious  Castellano J J 121 2/1

Nice score at SA last out taking the Blue Norther in a nice closing effort at today’s distance.  That was her first turf effort so she has every reason to keep her form and score a big win today.

11
Sheza Kat  Greeko Holdem  Bravo J 121 5/2

Flipped the script on them over this track last out winning the Ginger Brew for her first stakes score in her first stakes try.  She broke maiden at first asking then bounced one, prior to that stakes score, but other than the post position, she looks to be as tough as any today.
