FG- For Two Year Olds Foaled in LA
Six Furlongs on the Dirt

The biggest races on Saturday will be held at FG, with a specific focus on those bred in Louisiana. There are a total of seven stakes taking place, so those trainers taking part will be hoping for a fast and firm race track. Unfortunately, weather is a concern, but the chance of showers has trended down just a little bit. The LCD Juvenile is a six furlong race for two year olds that debuted in 2006, but has not run every year since then. The 2020 version was won by Mb Stables and his gelding, Dazed. It would be the last time he would run in a sprint, as of right now, and has not been able to carry his success into running long. And as a public service announcement, if you think he can still get it done in sprints, he is available in the auction on the 19th. There are a total of six horses going to the gate.  Let’s take a look at them!

#1- Profound Authority (Asgar, ridden by A Beschizza)- We start things off with a filly taking on the boys. The trainer also has one in the LCD Lassie, so has opted not to run them together there. Profound Authority comes into the race off of breaking her maiden in nail biting fashion at CD a few weeks ago. Carrying three fewer pounds will help her cause and she has great works coming in.

#2- Cheveley Park (Mo Mentum Farm, ridden by R Santana Jr)- The only two starts that this Storming colt has made have been on the turf. It started with winning on debut in August, but he failed to step up in his allowance try after that. That could very well be blamed on the soft turf that day, but it may have had the trainer take another look at the horse and move him to the main track. Worked very well here on the 7th.

#3- Ol Grange Hall (T Boy Racing, ridden by G Saez)- Another horse that has been lightly raced up to this point, making just two starts. After needing a race to get going, Ol Grange Hall took on three other LA-breds at DED last month and ran near the front throughout and ultimately got the victory. A good SRF from that performance helped give the trainer incentive to try and take this next step forward.

#4- Cherokee Reaper (John Henry, ridden by F Geroux)- When you see a horse in the race that you are not familiar with and you take a guess on who his parents are without looking, and you are right, it says something about his pedigree. Beautifully bred horse by Cherokee Sunset and out of The Reaper may not be following his parents footsteps yet, but with one win in five starts as well as hitting the board three times, he shows good potential. Works are a little hot and cold, but there can be reasons for that. Should be one of the top considerations here.

#5- Commander Farley (Threshold, ridden by J Loveberry)- The only horse in the field that has won more than one race, and will be looking to keep it that way when all is said and done here. His maiden win came at BTP in July, but comes off an appealing win at CT in late October, in the mud. If it rains here on Saturday, he looks even better here, as does Profound Authority. Hasn’t been worked publicly in a while.

#6- Riordan (Nynl Stables, ridden by B J Hernandez Jr)- This colt has managed to hit the board in four of his five starts, including a second place performance at the $60.000 Young Memorial Futurity. His work on the 2nd was a downer, and sources close to the trainer say he was almost pulled from the race then, but has earned the chance to see what he can do against this company as he seems to be a horse with good heart. Don’t think he would be that adversely affected by rain based on a couple farm works that we were privy to.
