Fire Artiste answered the distance question with a big yes on Saturday. The Con Artist filly stalked the leaders and got a nose down at the wire to win not only the lion’s share of a $200.000 purse but 50 coveted KY Oaks points. With 54 total points, Fire Artiste is now #4 on the KYO Qualifying list.

2 Groovy (Calia Stable) Lead at every call and held on for place money.

3 Toppifiant (Our Athletes) Late run to get up for third.

3 Majestic Chai (TwinTowersRacing) Even trip midpack, made a run to tie for third.

5 Dolly P (Arindel) Second early, outrun in the end.

6 Ignore Tucker (Fractious) Trailed the field throughout, closed to within a length.

7 Muddy Buddy (Mb Stables) Involved early, outrun in the stretch.

7 Calm Fury (Mb Stables) Trailed throughout, never a factor.

9 Siouxbiscuit (Mb Stables) Never involved.

10 Racket Sinner (Riggins Racing) Never a factor.

11 Perfect Illusion (Allinthegate) Trailed throughout, tied for last.

12 Authority Figure (Tockyocky) Mid-pack early, faded badly.

As mentioned above, Fire Artiste earned 50 points for a total of 54. Groovy earned 20. Toppifiant and Majestic Chai split the points for third and fourth and ended the day with a total of 15 and 19 points respectively. Dolly P took home 5 for a total of 13.
